HockeyNation: Devils / Panthers playoff series

Two goaltenders removed before the midway part of the game, one of them generally considered as one of the best to ever play the game. Who says there are no surprises in the playoffs.

Now that the Devils and Panthers have their own version of a Pennsylvania meltdown out of the way, we imagine they will return to the more staid, stable at times mundane brand of hockey that has kept their series on the back burner of coffee break chat through the first week of the playoffs.

The Panthers, having skated into Newark and taken their road victory now regain that home ice advantage, something they very well may need by the time this is over.

The Devils, will need a push back game tonight, answering to the collapse of Tuesday and looking to even the series up and turning it into a best of three competition.

While we are sure the back up goaltenders for both teams are very capable chaps, no doubt with the full confidence of their team mates, it would be baffling beyond all we've seen thus far in the playoffs if Brodeur is not facing down Theodore at the start of the game.

Whether both are there when it ends, well all bets this year it seems are off.
