Decembers Three star selections

The NHL has named its three stars for the month of December , two of the top snipers in the game and a guy that can shut them all down whenever he steps onto the ice.

The monthly awards this month, highlighted two offensive performers and yet another remarkable month of goal tending.

As Jason Spezza, Pavel Datsyuk and Evgeni Nabokov finished one, two, three with the selection committee.

Rookie of the Month December 2007

December was a very productive month for the Washington Capitals latest rookie sensation Nicklas Backstrom.

Last month he led all rookies in scoring, compiling 14 points in thirteen games, an achievement that did not go without notice.

Thursday, his December success was rewarded as he was named Rookie of the Month, just the latest in accolades that have come to the flashy Swede who was picked fourth overall in the 2006 hockey draft.

While some guy named Alexander seems to get most of the ink in Washington these days, they're starting to save some in reserve for the young fellow from Gavle, Sweden who is already showing that his arrival in the NHL should make for an interesting time.
