Ovechkins fast on the ice, but faster to the net
Alexander Ovechkin is a whiz kid on the ice, but it may be his computer skills that will make him a legend around the NHL.
The story has come out that Ovechkin's new girlfriend has just arrived in Washington for a quick visit, and as it turns out it was also their first date as well. A true man of the millenium, Ovechkin met his new beau last fall, through a mutual friend, by posting his profile on Odnoklassniki, a Russian version of the popular Facebook or MySpace services.
Since then they've been exchanging text messages, before, after and even during games, with Ovechkin going so far as to scoring a few goals to solidify those feelings of love for his new lady.
Katja as she's known has been a steady companion of Ovechkin over the last two weeks, as he shows her the sights of Washington and fills in the blanks from those brief but clearly fruitful text messages.
The Washington Post and bloggers for the Vancouver Province helped us out in understanding how this new world of romance really works.
Considering the competition between Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby of late, we can only assume that Sid has been using his downtime from the rink to work on uploading his profile to the message boards of the world..
