Game Four -- Philadelphia at New Jersey-- May 6, 2012

The return of Ilya Kovalchuk proved to be a rather helpful thing as the Devils spurred on by his efforts on the night shut down the Flyers and grabbed game 3 of the best of seven series, taking a 2-1 lead in the series with the chance to take charge of things on Sunday night.

While Kovalchuk was the story in Game three, the Flyers did themselves no favours, defensive lapses proved costly and even line changes proved problematic for the Flying P, as the Devils took advantage of a sloppy change and scored the winning goal in overtime of the third game.

The prospect of a return to the Eastern final for the first time since 2003 will be on the minds of the Devils, who with a win on Sunday will be one more victory away from making the roster of the final four teams left on skates heading into the third round.

If Philly is to make its mark in this series, the time is running short and Game 4 is as good a place as any to knuckle down and get to work, considering how the Devils have played the Flyers through the first three, heading into the back end of the series down 3-1 is probably something the Flyers will wish to avoid.
