IIHF Championships: Canada vs Belarus -- May 15, 2012

Another chance to watch the Kostitsyn brothers, this time on behalf of the homeland, that's what was on tap for Canadians in the wee hours of a Tuesday morning.

As things turned out, it was but a short visit, one was kicked out of the game, the other injured neither a factor for the most part in the fates of their nation's entry in the World Championships.

The last game of the first round featured the Canadian squad, on a winning streak of 5 and 1 thus far at the Worlds taking on the Belorussians, a squad of some familiar names but certainly not quite ready for tournament domination.

For Canada, its another opportunity to keep its momentum going forward, each game allowing Brent Sutter's squad to become more accustomed to each other and as the results have proven thus far, find the right combinations to bring success at the Worlds.

A victory on Tuesday was the guarantee of a first place finish in the pool and a top seed heading into round two.  More importantly, the prospect of confidence for a team that seems to gain more and more with each passing game.

May 15-- Team Canada 5 vs Belarus 1

Canada has 6 wins and 1 OT loss in the tournament so far
