Game Two -- New Jersey Devils at New York Rangers -- May 16, 2012

If you're a fan of the New Jersey Devils you probably are wondering if there is not perhaps a curse on those that cross the Hudson River to play at Madison Square Garden, despite two periods of total domination over the Blueshirts in game one, the Devils still find themselves one game down in their Eastern Final with the neighbours across the river.

A third period surge by the Rangers, wiped the gains of the Devils of the first two periods, unable to crack Henrik Lundqvist for three periods, the Devils left game  one down three goals, still frustrated in the Gardens after all these years.

The Rangers who looked tired and very inconsistent in the first two periods, found a bit of an extra step in the third, an early goal breaking the logjam but 53 seconds into the final frame and that as things would turn out would be more than enough, though they added two more for good measure.

The Devils can take a moral victory from their work of game one, in the first forty minutes they looked very solid, a team with a mission and looking to take an early lead in the series.  Yet, as they seem to have done through the playoffs, the Rangers found the way to win.

The moral victory may be nice when they discuss level of play and intensity, but it doesn't count when it comes to the first team to four wins, the Rangers have the lead in that category after one game and will be looking to add to the margin tonight.

Game Two-- New Jersey Devils 3 at New York Rangers 2
